A five-day closed course on Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) will be held from 11 to 15 December 2023 at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC) in Barcelona, Spain. The course is organized by EcoScope partner, Ecopath International Initiative (EII), on behalf of six projects: GES4SEAS (H2020), ActNow (H2020), ProOceans (Spain), Strategias Marinas (Spain), MarinePlan (H2020), and Ecoscope (H2020).
The course will be divided into two parts:
1) The first three days will provide a generic introduction to the Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) software, focusing on the foundation Ecopath module (data needs, parameterization, mass-balancing) and Ecosim (temporal dynamics, data needs, model fitting).
2) The last two days will concentrate on the advanced use of Ecospace, covering topics such as setting up species distributions and movement, fisheries management, scenario tradeoff analyses, extracting indicators, and the combined use of EwE with external tools, data, and models.
