Fourth ICES PICES Early Career Scientist Conference

Start: July 17th, 2022

End: July 20th, 2022

Hosted by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) in St. John’s, Newfoundland, between 18th - 21st July 2022. The ICES PICES Early Career Scientist Conference is the fourth of the series, building on the success of previous events and aimed at developing a network of professional peers for early career scientists.

Thematically, “Ocean sciences for the future we want” connects to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development 2021-2030. There will be a particular emphasis on the critical role early career scientists contribute to the current and future of our oceans and coasts.

This event encourages young scientists in international scientific institutions to advance their involvement in the management and stewardship of the marine environment. This includes developing connections through contacts, collaborations, and associations among early career scientists for the purpose of creating long term relationships.

Participants must either:

  • 35 years of age (at the time of the event in 2022) or younger.
  • Have finished a PhD no earlier than 2017.
